There is a 47% chance that using a tissue to blow your nose or wipe your face after a shave will result in some shred of tissue sticking to your face in an unsightly way. There is also a 75% chance that this curled up pulp will stay on your face for enough time to embarrass you. And that's because
a) most people are too embarrassed to mention it, mainly for fear it is stuck to your face with snot or sweat
b) most people would rather you didn't feel uncomfortable from having to wipe it off halfway through a presentation, conversation, anecdote or meeting.
c) most people are stupid
The side effects of snotty-tissue-face are that you will catch sight of it eventually and then spend a considerable amount of time feeling like a douche, replaying in your head all the people you spoke to looking like that. Of course you will maturely try to shrug this off whilst walking through the office. Surely your co-workers are more mature than all that whispering, pointing and laughing at you behind your back. Right? Snotty-tissue-face man? Right?
The real man's solution to this is to either save all his mucus in a mouldy handkerchief like those real gentlemen in trilbies and overcoats, or to use a handy and ever present sleeve when no one is looking. Sadly, metrosexuality dictates that we should all use tissues, wet wipes and some alcohol rub before disposing of said tissue in a responsible way. Noone likes a snotty-sleeve! Perhaps the next step is to invest in a compact so we can save ourselves from such tissue ignominy. I personally, am keen on this sleeve idea. The compact thing will have to wait till after I get used to a man-bag. I can't handle too many changes all at once.
